The Rocker Arm (also known as the Rocker Shaft) is a critical component in an internal combustion engine. Its primary function is to convert the rotational motion of the camshaft into the up-and-down motion of the valves, thereby controlling the intake and exhaust processes of the cylinder. Due to its requirement for high mechanical performance, the forging process should aim to achieve a good metal flow pattern and minimize defects as much as possible.
We use advanced floating die closure forging technology to produce various types of rocker arms, including single rocker arms,double rocker arms, and roller rocker arms. The use of this new technology allows our rocker arm forgings to achieve higher precision and require less machining.

The traditional processing method involves ordinary forging followed by machining, which is costly, inefficient, and results in a material utilization rate of less than 40% on average. Additionally, machining disrupts the metal flow lines, thereby reducing the mechanical properties of critical areas. We use advanced floating die closure forging technology, characterized by closing the mold before forging. This process involves the upper and lower molds closing to form a sealed cavity, applying a certain clamping force on the parting surface, and then extruding the metal billet placed in the sealed cavity from one or multiple directions using an extrusion punch, producing near-net-shape precision forgings without flash. This process not only improves material utilization and simplifies procedures but also achieves precise parts with good microstructure and performance with relatively low forming force. As a result, the quality, precision, and mechanical properties of the forgings are significantly improved, offering high economic and practical value. For example, the torsional fatigue life of rocker shafts produced using this closed die extrusion process is, on average, 2-3 times higher than that of parts produced using conventional forging and machining.
